📖 About This Game
On November 25, 1950, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army launched the second campaign. After the Dechuan battle, the 38th Army of the Volunteer Army advanced rapidly towards Kaesong. In order to plug the gap in the battle and prevent the Volunteer Army from advancing westward, the Turkish Brigade built defensive positions at Gariling and Yangzhan east of Kaesong and tried to hold on. The 114th Division of the 38th Army of the Volunteer Army launched a fierce attack and engaged in a fierce battle with the Turkish Brigade from the 27th to the 29th. They finally broke through the Turkish Brigade's defense line and inflicted heavy damage on it, successfully realizing their intention of infiltration. However, the tenacity of the Turkish Brigade in this battle left a deep impression on the Volunteer Army, and from then on they regarded the Turkish Army as the main force of the United Nations Army alongside the US and British Armies.
There are two widely circulated stories about this battle. One is that before the Volunteer Army and the Turkish Brigade exchanged fire, the Turkish army mistakenly took the retreating South Korean troops as the Volunteer Army and severely damaged them, which became a famous misunderstanding in the second battle. The other is that many years later, before the start of the self-defense counterattack against India, the People's Liberation Army used the Turkish Army as a reference for its estimate of the strength of the Indian Army, believing that the Indian Army's combat effectiveness should be inferior to the Turkish Army and stronger than the Kuomintang Army. Of course, in actual combat, the Indian army was not even as good as the national army, but this also shows from one side that the Turks in Korea were indeed brave.
