About

TripLets is a simple word building game where players compete to make three-letter words within a 3x3 grid. For two or more players ages 6+, plus a solo mode. COMPONENTS: 5-inch game wooden gameboard with 3x3 grid 80 magnetic letter tiles 4 dry erase scoreboards three-letter word list dry erase marker. GOAL: Score the highest points by making the three-letter words SETUP: Shuffle and place the letter tiles face down between the players. Give each player a scoreboard. Grab a pen and paper to keep track of words made. Take nine random tiles and place within the game board, one tile per cell. Give each player a random letter tile. GAME PLAY: Playing in turns, a player can perform one of two actions Place their tile onto an existing tile in the grid or Move a tile within the grid. Making Words Upon placing a tile, check to see if one or more three-letter words have been made in any of eight directions. Scoring a Word If a new word is made, total the value of the letters and add to your score on your scoreboard. You only can score on words connected to the letter moved or revealed. Stealing a Word Once a player says their turn is over, any player can “steal” a word missed by their opponent. This happens when the player fails to spot a word. The player finding the new word scores the value. Tracking New Words Each word made must not have been previously formed. You cannot repeat words. You can track words made on a separate piece of paper. Optionally, use our free tracking app at www.brainy.games/triplets. Validity of Words Any word that is not an acronym or abbreviation is allowed. Optionally, allow first names (GUS,ABE). WINNING: After all tiles have been played, the person with the highest score will be the winner. In case of a tie, play another round. —description from the designer
