📖 About This Game
Musket to Rifle is your key to black powder skirmish warfare from the American revolution through to the arrival of the magazine rifle.
The game is a "true" skirmish game dealing with the confrontations between small groups of scattered soldiers, instead of simply using a low figure count and still sticking to formations that skirmishers did not use.
This is the environment of the energetic firefight between opposing forward elements, patrols and pickets. A typical game might have 20-40 figures on each side though it can scale down for lunch break games quite well.
Dice rolls are D10s with players trying to roll equal or under the troop profile.
The turn sequence uses an alternating activation though it permits for single figure "initiative actions" as well, addressing the problem of one side having more units than the other.
Other features include:
"Lull in fighting" - Over time, firefights will settle down and both sides will have a chance to regroup their forces some and renew the fight.
Points system allowing pick up games to be easily done. You get 9 infantry profiles, 4 cavalry, 4 officer and 6 other character profiles.
Weapon profiles covering the span of the 19th century from Brown Bess to Lee Enfield.
Optional tables adding unexpected factors to a battle.
13 scenarios that will be updated in response to player feedback.
"The personal game" allowing you to track the career of a single figure.
Campaign elements.
Solo tools.
As with other titles we release, we hope to update the rules in the future if players have great suggestions, additional historical detail can be added or a rule turns out to need improving.
