KASSALA 16th July 1894 The Italian Governor Gen. Baratieri organizes the conquest of Kassala, Dervishes stronghold in Sudan. After a quick advance and a fierce combat, the city is conquered by the Italians. TUCRUF 3rd April 1896 The Italian garrison of Kassala, led by Major Stevani, attacks the Dervishes camp at Tucruf but after a fierce combat must return to its base.
