The king is dead! – The news fell upon the kingdom like a thunderbolt from a clear blue sky. The ruler did not leave a descendant who could take over the crown, and with it, responsibility for the fate of the state. None of the contenders have enough support to take power on their own. So they must do what they can to gain more prestige, form alliances with other pretenders, cooperate with them, and sometimes betray them - all in the name of the crown. Heavy is the Crown is a board game for 2-4 players, in which players take on the roles of pretenders for the legacy and crown, in a kingdom that has lost its ruler. Initially, each participant only observes and manipulates the struggles of the armies fighting for domination over the regions on the board that depictes the orphaned kingdom, to take sides with one of the factions at the most convenient moment, become its leader and steer it to a victorious campaign. However, the political and military situation of the kingdom is so complicated that, in addition to brute force, the second important factor may be the right alliances, and even supporting one of the other pretenders in the final clash may be key to the ultimate victory. —description from the publisher
