📖 About This Game

The old wizard lives in the mythical forest. As his students, you are walking through the heart of the forest when you hear his voice echoing through the trees: "I have locked your wizard towers and hidden the keys deep within the mythical forest. Whoever finds three keys first and returns to the magic tower will become my successor." Are you ready for the challenge of Fabelwald? Then set off on your journey! —description from the publisher Gameplay Description: The game has two modes. STANDARD GAME: On your turn you will move four times, each time revealing an adjacent tile. If it is a monster, your turn ends immediately. If is the wizard, you must draw a wizard card, which reveals an ingredient you must find in the forest. If it is a magical place, check against your three magical place cards. If there's a match, you flip the card over; you have retrieved one of the three keys you need to unlock your tower! When you have all three keys, race to your tower; if you reach it, with no face-up wizard cards, you win! ADVANCED GAME: Similar to the standard game, but you aren't limited to four moves. You may keep revealing tiles until you choose to stop, find your magical place, or are stopped by a monster. The main monsters in this version are Will-o'-the-wisps; the first one you see puts you on alert, the second sends you back to where you started the turn. But there's also the dragon, who sends you back to your home space! At turn's end, you swap the position of any two tiles. Then, if you found your magical place, you flip it to its "key" side and draw a new magical place card. When you have three keys, race to your tower next turn to win! In both games: Pay attention to the tiles your opponents reveal on their turns, and try to remember where the monsters, wizards, and magical places are after the tiles are all flipped back over!
