📖 About This Game
Distant Seas is the first major expansion for Buccaneers of the Americas, and REQUIRES OWNERSHIP OF THE ORIGINAL GAME. With this expansion, players are no longer strictly confined to the waters of the West Indies. Now, players may venture beyond into more distant seas: To the Atlantic coastline of North America; across the Isthmus of Darien (or by first traversing the treacherous Strait of Magellan) into the largely unguarded and unprepared Spanish South Sea; around and within the British Isles, France, the Iberian Peninsula, and the "German Sea" (North Sea) of Europe; off the shores of the Guinea coast, where private European companies load their human cargoes aboard their chartered ships; and by utilizing the "Pirate Round" route to enter the East Indies, where captains may attempt to ambush the Mughal treasure fleet!
Overall, DISTANT SEAS includes no less than five new region maps (East Indies, Europe, Guinea Coast, North America, South Sea); a world map; two new ships (Dhow, Brigantine) plus fully revised ship illustrations; a revised captain’s sheet; ship quick reference cards; two new nations (Kingdom of Portugal, Mughal Empire); new and revised counters; revised tables; and a supplementary rulebook which clarifies the new additions, changes, and world map travel procedures.
The Distant Seas expansion for Buccaneers of the Americas, REQUIRING OWNERSHIP OF THE ORIGINAL GAME, requires two ten-sided (d10) dice to play, and may be (but is not required) enhanced by taking notes and keeping a log on a separate sheet of paper, or digitally with any free word-like program, as your captain's story develops.
