📖 About This Game
Bevrijdingsspel ("Liberation Game") appears to be a relatively scarce WWII Dutch game celebrating the liberation of the Netherlands by the Allies from Nazi Germany.
The game consists of a colorful Gameboard with central images of a liberated Netherlands with local Dutch people celebrating with Allied troops, relief convoys of ships, ambulances and food drops, while German soldiers and spies are seen arrested or fleeing. These pictures are bordered by squares spaces that players advance around.
Before the game starts 48 (numbered 1 -48) "Occupied Netherlands" cards are placed on top of the Liberated Netherlands images. Together the 48 cards depict images of Nazi oppression and occupation of the Netherlands, thus covering the happy celebrations on the board.
Players roll a dice and move around the outer border spaces. If the land on certain squares that show pictures that would aid liberation; such as - illegal papers, smuggle weapons, sabotage, hiding people or help an Aviator the player then removes one of the 48 squares. Players can land on a certain squares which sees them captured and detained but all can be released if another player lands on a "Free Prisoner" square. In return, any freed prisoner gives the liberator one of their 48 "Occupied Netherlands" cards.
When all 48 cards are removed and the entire country is liberated the game ends. Each player adds up the value of their collected cards and the highest total is the winner.
