📖 About This Game
The 'Ancient Mediterranean' is a civilization Euro style game for 2 to 5 players with easy rules and relatively short gameplay. (1-2 hours) In this game each player controls one of the 5 ancient cultures that settled around the Mediterranean Sea in a fictive period BC: Romans, Greeks, Persians, Egyptians and Carthaginians.
Each turn in the game represents a period roughly around 30 years, and it covers the rise (and fall) of the reign of one king. Every ruler will usually be specialized in one of the 5 aspects of the game and will improve its nation in one of those 5 areas: military, science, seafaring, city building and nation expansion. Each representing a type of action the players may execute on their turn.
Every turn, as an action, each player will play one set of cards from his hand, but all cards played must be of the same type. Each action may be activated up to 5 times throughout the game. Every time a player wants to activate the same action, one more card is always required than the previous time. The game ends the moment some player manages to activate any action for the 5th time.
At the end of each round, the player will draw an amount of cards equals to the number of resources his nation controls, but (out of those cards) he will get to keep only a number of cards equal to the number of UNIQUE resources he has.
Players will collect 2 types of victory points: Glory and Culture. Final score is the LOWER of these 2 types of points. At the end of the game, the player with the highest final score wins.
