📖 About This Game

超超長城 (Super Hyper Great Wall) is a 2 player deck-building game with some novel ideas. Players are competing to build a Great Wall, such as a famous Great Wall in another land. The wall is the victory points, so simply extending the wall as much as possible is one path to success. However, the game uses a wide variety of cards, and as well as extending the wall, it is also used to store cards for later use. The cards have no purchase cost. Instead, the player uses the powers of one card to gain more cards, dependant on conditions. So a player might play an action card get another card, if their hand is not too large. So there is a usage cost, but not a purchase cost. Also, the starting hand is already strong. Players begin with powerful cards and good choices, and do not have to spend several rounds building up the action. The game is quite serious right from the start (the designer rates it for age 12+), but also beginners do not have to be familiar with the game to play well. The designer says the dilemma is whether to increase your hand or the wall, not puzzling over spending money. There are 30 different types of card in the game, including a lot of folklore characters and historic weapons. The artist (黒子洋瓦 Kuroko-tile) was overworked completing the game. When the game ends, the player with the most points is the winner, drawn from the length of wall and the cards used to build the wall. user summary
