ふしぎ商店街 (Fushigi Shotengai) is a game from Japan, themed on the very familiar covered shopping street that is common across the whole of Japan. There are two games that can be played, a racing game かけっこ(Kakkeo)and a memo game where you are finding tags at night. As the game progresses, you can make combos that speed you along. For the racing game, each turn, each player chooses people in the shopping district who will lend their help. Place the tiles that correspond to the starting point, bus stop, and jewellery box on the daytime board and arrange the remaining shop tiles (daytime) in a random order. Place 5 jewel pieces in the treasure box squares. Shuffle the Resident cards and place them face down next to the board along with the money chips. Place all player pieces at the starting point. Depending on the number of players, each player chooses two Resident cards as helpers, so that other players do not know. Players then go through the Resident cards chosen in numerical order, from 1 to 9. Where players have chosen the same kind of helper, such as borrowing money, the lower value goes first. When a Resident helps by moving the player piece backwards or forwards along the street, the player takes the action on the space they land on. If this causes them to advance to another tile, they continue with the action given there. If a player moves through one of the jewellery boxes, they collet the jewel they find there.
