📖 About This Game
Witches' Revel is an expandable card game for 2 players, where two witches fill the field with spells that shift, smash and blow opposing spells right out of the sky… until one of the witches taps out, and then whoever has filled the field with the best spells wins the game. It's a game that condenses competitive card game tropes in a smaller game package that's all about sequencing.
To play, players bring a witch card and 25-card spell decks; the game is played in short turns, where a player will draw a card, play a card (or skip that play, drawing an extra card in the process), and then use the Powers of their cards on the field before passing.
Spell cards are played in one of the five spaces the field is divided in, each able to hold only 1 spell for each player, and the offensive spells cannot be normally removed from a space once played, meaning that the tempo of these 1-play turns and the availability of space left of the board become the main resources a player must manage to effectively play the game.
Players can also improve their spells by stitching one atop another, making both cards into a larger, more threatening spell. Larger spells overpower (discard) smaller ones, stopping the opponent from winning the space or forcing them to change their plans as a key piece of their synergy is removed. However, this, and other plays through the game, can sap a witch's Stamina, which does not replenish. When a player ends the turn with no Stamina, the opponent will get one more turn to try and turn the tide, getting to make bonus plays on that final turn depending on the Stamina they saved, and then the player who has the most powerful spells in a majority of spaces wins the game!
