Wave Chase Race (ウェーブチェイスレース)

Wave Chase Race (ウェーブチェイスレース) is a race prediction game from Japan. The players are trying to get their predicted sailing team to win the regatta but not the races. The gameplay has various twists. The team that actually wins the race does not score. Instead, the team in 2nd place determines the points distribution. As teams move along the course, they can get a boost by passing through boats ahead of them. With several boats, this can create large moves. But if a leading group catches up with a lagging group, instead of being lapped, the lagging group simply joins the leaders. So falling behind is not necessarily bad if you can get the leader to catch you up. The game is played over two races, and the final winner is determined from several factors: the rankings from each race, your predictions during the races, the cards remaining in your hand, points from your colours. The final total gives the eventual winner.
