📖 About This Game

Sjavs is a Danish and Faroese game in the Schafkopf family. Many variants exist but the predominant one in the Faroe Islands is a four player game and the predominant one in Denmark is a three player game. Variants exist for 1 and 2 players also. The game was brought back to Denmark from Germany by travelling journeymen (Navere) and evolved here mainly among craftsmen and very much became a pub game. The Danish game is different in that it only has 20 cards and players start with 50 points each. The first to 0 loses. The most common variant is called Klørtjavs (Clubs Tjavs) where clubs is a fixed trump suit.
