📖 About This Game

A single-player card game in which you take on the role of the knight Mordred on a journey through the underworld, encountering all sorts of lost souls and facing various temptations to atone for your past and gain access to the higher realms of the afterlife. Can you dig your way to the light, or will you fall even deeper into darkness? The game is structured as a card-based gamebook, with roguelite elements in the gameplay. It includes 60 illustrations hand-painted with ink. On your journey through the underworld, every turn, you choose from three cards with full-page illustrations: one to discard, one to put on the bottom of the deck, and one to play - to face the encounter hidden behind the illustration. Text on the flip side will tell you what happens – based on your current condition – and what changes you shall write into your character sheet. You will try to get rid of points of your “sins” during your journey. You will be finding lot of interesting equipment and strange allies on your path and encounter lost souls of various knights and desperate creatures. The game is very easy to play, though not easy to win. It focuses on narrative, trying to conjure immersive, almost cinematic experience, while the tactical element isn’t that high. Replayability element is medium – not so high as in a usual non-narrative dungeon crawler, but at the same time much higher than in a common gamebook. —description from the designer
