📖 About This Game

Welcome to Seedlings, in our biome 1-4 players will compete or collaborate to grow a prosperous plant species. Players draft from 6 different Species with unique abilities to play as then receive 12 Seeds, 3 Shoots, and 1 Canopy to use in building out their plant's network. Players also receive 2 treaty cards that allow them to work together with other players and negotiate new paths to winning. The game board is a hexagon composed of 6 equilateral triangles with resource tiles that can be assembled clockwise according to the numbers on their backside or randomly. Games end after 6 days (1 day = 1 Sun Cycle + 1 Moon Cycle) have passed and the winner is determined by who built the plant network that scored the most victory points. Victory points are scored at the end of the game for things like who has the control of the most resources, mutations, evolutions, etc. Each player also receives a Gene Agenda at the start of the game. This is a secret objective only available to them that they are capable of revealing for additional Victory Points. All game actions are broken down into Sun and Moon Cycles. Each cycle has three steps: Upkeep, Main, and End. During the upkeep, players draw an event card and deal with the results. For example, rolling dice or paying resources to survive an animal or weather event. Next, players move to the Main. Part 1 of the Main, players use gathered resources to purchase pieces to place onto the board, mutation cards for new abilities, or unlock their species unique evolutions. Then part 2 of the Main, players take turns pushing their luck either gathering resources, planting seeds, growing shoots, and creating canopies onto the game board. Seeds are placed to board around resource tiles to create networks that allow players to control space, build their network, gather resources, or challenge another player's control of a position on the board. If players challenge each other's position on the board, there is a roll off with 2 D6 and a stat check resolution to see who takes control of the board position. Then the final cycle step is the End, all players have run out of actions to take and the next cycle must begin. Flip over the Sun/Moon indicator token to the opposite side and begin from step 1 again. Once a Sun Cycle and Moon Cycle have ended, this marks the passing of 1 full day. Games are minimum of 6 days long, but players may adjust to whatever length of game they wish to play. Use your skills to create a superior root network. Challenge or collaborate with other players to overcome the environment. Unlock Mutations and Evolutions to give yourself or your team the edge needed to win! —description from the publisher
