📖 About This Game
Runicah is a Norse themed, competitive card game that uses set collection, resource management, blind trade, and self serving cooperation mechanics to bring players on a journey of back-stabbing, back-tracking and back-scratching.
Players will compete to be the first to complete their own unique set of runes. Players will almost certainly need to cooperate on some level if they wish to win, the key is how and when to help each other out.
The game consists of a single repeated round sequence until a winner is determined. Each player starts with a Character card; which gives them a unique player ability and a starting Rune drawn, all of which are randomly dealt. Players then all draw loot cards which make up the resource they use to complete trials and hopefully obtain more runes.
A round consists of players completing personal trials, trading of runes, and a group event. A player wins when they have completed a sets, either the same colour with one of each symbol, or the same symbol with one of each colour. The main focus comes from player interactions during the trials and trading parts to the round, with players deciding whether cooperation is personally beneficial enough to risk helping an opponent.
A game can last anywhere from 20 to 40 mins depending on group size, and is balanced in such a way as to count noone out until the very end.
