📖 About This Game

Rekta is a 2 player abstract tactical card game where players compete with each other in a hard-thinking duel. By deploying, flipping, rotating, swapping and moving cards on the 3x3 card grid, players try to arrange them to reach one of the winning conditions. The gameplay is divided into two phases. Phase 1 is aimed to build together the 3x3 grid by deploying and manipulating cards from the deck and try to set/prepare own cards as best as possible for the next phase. During Phase 2 players fight by flipping opponents cards on the grid and manipulating cards also using the deck. Each phase offers its own separate set of player actions available. Players take turns alternately and perform their actions trying to outsmart and dominate the opponent with thoughtful tactics, constantly adapting their decisions to the ever changing conditions on the grid. The game lasts for a finite number of rounds controlled by the card rotation in the deck.. Rekta feels a little bit like a mix of chess game and boxing match but in its own simpler card form. The game offers an endless replayability. This, combined with a very quick setup encourages players to play several games in a row. With handy components (only 18 cards), the game fits perfectly for lunch breaks and trips. —description from the designer
