📖 About This Game

Prelude to Leipzig: Napoleon's Spring 1813 Campaign is an Operational level board-wargame. This is a prequel to John Theissen's Campaign of Nations. That game tackled the autumn 1813 campaign that culminated in the climactic Battle of Nations, covering those events with his clean, streamlined approach to operational hex-and-counter gaming. In this game, he turns his attention to the spring campaign. Historically, Napoleon failed to achieve the decisive victory he was looking for, resulting in a summer truce - giving his enemies precious time to plan and prepare for the battle that would signal the end of his rule. But perhaps your French Coalition can realize his ambitions? Or maybe your Prussian and Russian forces will stop him in the spring? Like Mr. Theissen's other titles, what happens is up to the players. Pursue your objectives aggressively for an exciting clash. Dilly-dally for an indecisive campaign. This approach, which trusts players to use the tools they've been given, has won these designs their ardent fans. In an attempt to bring these joys to a wider audience, the mapsheet - our largest-ever, measuring 32" x 32" - uses roomy extra-large hexes, with terrain effects printed directly on the map. —description from the publisher
