📖 About This Game
Plunder and Fighting! is a solo tabletop adventure wargame where you are a Pirate Captain during a fictional history that aligns loosely to the golden age of piracy between the 1650s and 1730s in our world. You will lead your Crew on daring raids for loot and glory while also trying to keep at bay the authorities and a rival captain out to do you in. Each game takes the form of a battle between the crew and another group, but likely includes some additional tasks or conditions to fulfill to keep your adventure progressing.
Played with as little as 30 miniatures, the game is designed to be played by a single player running a small team of heroic characters and with the reactions of their adversaries and any bystanders being driven by the rolls of the dice. While there are many games that can be played solo, these have been specifically designed to be played that way,
There are three ways to play:
15 Turns - Follow one of the six defined Story Arcs that will lead you through 15 battles to a conclusion.
Emergent - Start with randomly rolled battles but then follow the appropriate Story Arc as it emerges.
Sandbox - Make up your own story, choosing when to roll up random battles and when to pick a special scenario from whichever Arc as it appeals to you.
This is not to be taken as historical gaming though, the rules definitely lean much more towards the adventures of literature and the cinema than any attempt to be historically accurate. Indeed a typical pirate ship would be crewed by 50-200 scurvy dogs, and we’ll be playing with a fraction of that number! So, not just a wargame set in the Caribbean, these are swashbuckling, rum drinking, heroic types, swinging from rigging, jumping across rooftops and generally being a bit over the top.
