About

As the children at the sleepover prepare for bed, a group of friends discuss their plans. It seems a being of the nightmare realm will come again to steal their toys, and only by setting traps of their own do they have a chance of getting even. Playthings is a sensory guessing game where players take turns as the Night Terror, hiding toys in rooms on a house map, while the rest ‘sleep’ with their eyes closed. They await daybreak and a chance to guess where their toys have gone. However, they had the chance to gain slivers of information to assist them— such as sliding their fingers under the mat to feel vibrations, or placing jingling bells as sound traps But the true choice is simply whether or not to peek and know for certain. However, even as the players score points individually and cooperatively for finding their toys, the Night Terror scores for their failures, and the ability to guess who did or didn't peek. A ridiculous and unique ritual of the senses, Playthings asks if players are smart enough to deduce from very little, or are brave enough to feign ignorance as they watched the Night Terror commit its deeds.
