📖 About This Game
Où sont passées les artistes femmes ? allows players to retrace female painters personal artistic journeys, but also to pay tribute to the feats of strength they had to perform in order to learn, create, and exist.
In this game, you play as a female artist who leads an investigation to discover the painter who has disappeared from art history.
During the game, you will have to collect clues from the other female artists portrayed in the game, and thus learn more about their lives, their work, and their era. You may be censored, but you can also choose to rebel or demonstrate your sisterhood. In addition to your work as an artist, you can become the director of a women's artists' studio, the president of a women's rights association, or even the editor-in-chief of a feminist newspaper.
Goal of the game:
Women artists have been erased from art history!
Investigate to find the missing artist from the game. You must discover the identity of the mystery artist, left in the envelope in the center of the table, by discovering the identities of the other artists featured in the game.
Gameplay:
Draw a ROLE card and perform the card exchanges associated with that role (if you are a president, director, or scholar, the other roles are used during the game). If this is your very first game, it is recommended to play without the role cards and introduce them in the next game.
Draw 5 ACTION cards. The player whose first letter of their first name is closest to "A" begins. Then, the person to their left begins. Each turn, perform an action that corresponds to one of your cards, then draw cards so that you always have 5 ACTION cards in hand.
Write down on your investigation sheet the clues you find in your red booklet. This booklet and the reproductions of the works are available throughout the game. Take advantage of time outside of your turn to read the booklet and look at the works. # Getting a card from another player: When you ask for a card, the designated player takes all the cards from their easel and has you randomly draw the card of the requested color. They cannot choose which card to show you. If you draw a card you already know, you cannot draw it again. Since the painter card can never be drawn, you can hide it to prevent prying eyes from seeing it...
End of game':
When you think you've guessed the identities of the other players, you can deduce who the mystery painter in the middle of the table is. When it's your turn to play, you formulate your hypothesis aloud. Be careful, if you play, you can no longer formulate a hypothesis, and you must wait until the next round! To state your hypothesis, say: "I think the woman artist erased from art history is..." followed by the artist's name.
You then look at the contents of the envelope in the center of the table, without showing it to the others. If your hypothesis is correct, you win, and the game is over! If you are wrong, you are eliminated. You place the envelope back in the middle of the table, and the game continues.
