📖 About This Game

Overgrown is a 2-4 player, simple area control game great for friends and family. Players take on the roles of plants competing over space in the garden. Each turn, they can choose to: Spread: players place a new Root on the board adjacent to a Root they already have. This allows them to take more space in the garden. Grow: players place a new Stem on a Root or another Stem they have on the board, growing their plants to try and make them bloom. Each root can only have up to three Stems. Wilt: players that have two full plants adjacent to each other (one Root and three Stems on each space) can wilt one of them (removing the Root and Stems from the board) to bloom the other. This is one of the two ways to achieve a bloom. Absorb: Each time any player Spreads or Grows, they put a corresponding Water (for Spread) or Sun (for Grow) Token into the Token Bag. On their turn, a player may choose to Absorb instead of taking the other actions. This allows them to reach into the Token Bag and draw 4 Tokens. Each Token they draw allows them to add to the board: 1 Stem for each Water Token; 1 Root for each Sun Token; 1 Bloom if 3 of the same type of Token are drawn. However, if the player draws a Cloud Token, they lose their turn and put all Tokens back into the Token Bag. If the Pest Token is drawn, the player's tallest plant is devoured by the Pest. When a player Blooms, they place one of their flowers on top of a full stack of Stems. All other pieces in the adjoining 8 spaces are removed from the board as a result. The first player to bloom 3 flowers wins! —description from the designer
