📖 About This Game

In Nightslain, you'll assume the role of a Nightslayer tasked with cleansing locations from the horrific creatures which ravaged the kingdom. During the course of the game, you'll fight your way through 2 Territories, collecting vital equipment which will increase your stats. Clear the second Territory to win the game. The Nightslayer Your character has 3 stats: Vitality, Physique and Knowledge. Vitality determines your max health; if it falls to 0, you lose the game. Physique governs your overall strength, used during combat. Knowledge increases your arcane, which is used to cast spells. Territories and The Encounter Card Territories are faced one at a time. With a Cleanse action, you may reduce its Threat level by 1 per strength point spent. If this reduces its threat to 0, you have cleared the location. You may also try to loot during a turn, but it will come at a cost. Each territory presents 3 locations with different looting costs. Whenever you reduce a location's threat level, you'll also move the Encounter cube on the Encounter card down one space. During the subsequent phase, you'll have to resolve the effect of the current space. Some effects may be mitigated, while others are inopposable. Tools and The Spellbook Tools cover various roles: they increase your stats, and most of them provide with an active or passive ability. There are 3 tool categories, but you may only carry one tool from each category. Spells can be unlocked by increasing Knowledge: they cost Arcane to cast, but do not need to be readied after use. The Spellbook card has 2 sides, each with a different spell set. Looming Destruction During the final phase of each round, you'll have to increase destruction on the territory: if it reaches 9, you lose the game. Be careful as the more remaining threat a territory has, the more destruction will be caused; not only that, but high destruction will hinder your Nightslayer with negative effects. —description from the designer
