Long Live the Captain

In Long Live the Captain, your old captain is dead! Fed to the sharks, in fact, and the crew is looking for a new leader. But this won’t be an honest election. To claim the title of captain, you’ll need to outwit your rivals, bribe the crew, and strike shady deals, all while bluffing your way to the top. Each round begins with an event that shakes up the rules of play. Players receive resources such as gold, silk, or gunpowder, then reveal a set of pirate cards, each waiting to see who offers the best bribes. Before bribes are placed, there’s room for negotiation and dirty trading, where anything from resources to promises can change hands. Players secretly prepare bribe piles to win the loyalty of specific pirates. Resources, treasure maps, and even fake cards may be used to mislead opponents. Once revealed, pirates decide who to support, sometimes swayed by clever tricks like poison or event effects. Pirates that join your crew bring you closer to victory. The game ends after a set number of rounds, and the player with the strongest crew of pirates is crowned the new captain. With bluffing, bribery, and backstabbing at its core, Long Live the Captain challenges players to outthink and outplay their rivals in a race for command of the ship.
