Liaoshen Campaign(é¼çæ°å½¹), 1948 is a 2-4 players operational-level board wargame that simulates the battles between Chinese Communist Party (CCP,ä¸åå
±ç¢é»¨) and Kuomintang (KMT,ä¸å忰黍) from Sep, 1948 to Nov, 1948 during the second Chinese Civil War. It is the first game in the Chinese Civil War Series(CCWS,åå
±å
§æ°ç³»å). 2 players command the People Liberation Army (PLA), and the other 2 players command the National Government Army (NRA) respectively.
Each turn represents 7 days and each hex is about 10 km across. There are several kinds of basic combat units, including infantry, artillery, artillery, cavalry, armor, etc. The scale of the basic unit is from regiment to division size. There are three phases in the sequence of play, strategic, operational, and supply phases. During the strategic phase, player use strategic move to deploy your units to the right place quickly. During the operational phase, players use cards to activate the corps HQ to command its units to move, combat, and advance after combat. You can also use cards to initiate some events or special tactics during combat. During supply phase, you produce the resource points from the city/town you occupied and refill your hand cards.
There are four scenarios in this game, including Liaoshen Campaign (7 turns), Battle of Jinzhou (4 turns), Battle of Heishan (3 turns), Huludao evacuation (2 turns). The victory condition is different from both sides in different scenarios.
