Icarus Islands

Fly with the wings of Icarus, Pegasus or even Siren to explore the shortest distance when visiting pre-selected Greek islands! Simple rules and unexpected complexity in a fun and novel game which teaches intuitevely advanced mathematics, Greek geography, demographics, and history. It is played in three parts: 1. Competition between 2-8 players to find the least distance after visiting all or some of thirty islands (always returning to the base island) on the Map of the Greek Archipelagos. There are also a 1-player challenges, where someone must find the least distance, which is based on the Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP). 2. Pinpointing the position of any of the 240 islands shown on the Map of the Greek Archipelagos. Players who find them first, receive a bonus. 3. Using 120 cards showing the shape of Greek islands. Each card states population and area. Island-cards with less people and smaller area have the advantage. Points are counted at the end of the three parts to reveal the winner. Pawns depict ancient Greek flying characters, such as Icarus, Daedalus, Pegasus, Europe, Apollo, Hermes, Nike, Siren, etc. Each player uses markers or tokens to mark their routes.
