📖 About This Game

The Crowdfunding Exclusive Nightmares: Pantheon expansion brings the ultimate fight to the tabletop with 5 Gods, 2 new Scenarios, and new mechanics to face these mighty deities together! Nightmares: Pantheon introduces 2 new dream-like scenarios, pitting players against Zeus, in 2 different incarnations, and his divine followers in unique challenges. While Hermes, Poseidon, Hercules, and Hades can serve as traditional Bosses in any God of War: The Board Game scenario, the expansion scenarios require combining 2 of the 4 gods with Zeus for an epic showdown. One deity begins the battle already on the board, unleashing havoc based on their divine powers, such as manipulating massive amounts of water in the case of Poseidon or sending over souls to viciously maul the Heroes in the case of Hades. This initial presence, alongside the usual two Monsters, poses a daunting challenge for our Heroes. And time, is of course, working against them. The second god enters the fray either upon the defeat of the first or when the Menace track reaches its threshold. The same happens with the Ruler of Olympus, Zeus. This means that, if not managed effectively — and, assuming that they survive long enough — players could end up facing multiple gods simultaneously. As epic as this may seem, it cannot be understated how difficult it is to have 2 gods and Zeus on the board, and how much this would lead the Heroes to their certain demise. Yet, battling gods brings its own rewards. Heroes gain synergy for each milestone of damage that is dealt to them. In addition, vanquishing these deities bestows unique attacks upon the Heroes, tailored to each fallen god. It can also grant access to the Blade of Olympus, aiding the Heroes in the ultimate confrontation with Zeus. To match the heightened difficulty of facing the combined gods, the expansion also introduces an expanded Menace Track and an extension of the Synergy Track. These additions serve not only to track and manage the unique mechanics of the scenarios, but also elevate the battle to an epic scale. More threats, more rewards, and a longer running time provide the Heroes with a fighting chance amidst the chaos unleashed. Hermes, fuelled by his unmatched speed, exudes arrogance as he toys with his opponents and considers himself untouchable. Darting across the board with lightning-like agility, he launches attacks that are nearly impossible to anticipate or defend against and inflicts considerable damage upon the Heroes with each strike. Poseidon fell victim to the malevolence unleashed by Pandora's box and transformed into a harbinger of chaos. As a Boss, he unleashes the Water Horror tokens across the board, inflicting substantial damage and triggering them like any other monster. He can swiftly engulf the zones in a torrent of flooding waters. Called upon by his father Zeus to defend Mount Olympus against his half-brother Kratos, Hercules is swift to anger and widely regarded as one of the most formidable warriors and demigods. In addition to delivering devastating blows with his fists, Hercules sends Heroes hurtling across the board with each strike. This can complicate their efforts to accomplish objectives and reach key zones. While typically disinterested in mortal affairs, Hades will quickly and fiercely exact vengeance on any who would oppose him or the Olympians. As the ruler of the underworld, he wields his influence over the unfortunate souls in his dominion, deploying them against the Heroes in the form of Soul tokens scattered across the board. These tokens not only inflict damage but also stun the Heroes, showcasing Hades' formidable power in combat. As the mightiest of all the Olympians and the father of Kratos, Zeus stands as his most formidable adversary, embodying cruelty and coldness. He bears a significant share of responsibility for the many evils that have befallen mortal kind. In battle, Zeus manifests in two distinct forms within Kratos' nightmares: the God of Thunder and the Lord of the Sky. Each projection presents its own unique challenges. The God of Thunder boasts formidable health, with 80 points, and spawns ethereal versions of himself that assail Heroes, intensifying the onslaught on the board. As the Lord of the Sky, he unleashes powerful thunderous strikes that damage Heroes, disrupt objectives, and forcibly pushes them away, demonstrating Zeus' immense power over the elements. —description from the publisher
