📖 About This Game

Ten teams of hackers converge on the annual Capture the Flag competition, each armed with an arsenal or programs to protect their own machine or break into the other teams' systems. In CTF, players take on the role of one of these teams, racing to break their opponent's security three times. But subsequent attacks won't be so easy—each time your break your opponent's security, they'll get access to new programs to thwart you! CTF is a micro-TCG. Players use starter decks and booster packs to build custom 9-card decks. Each player starts the game at Layer 0 on the tracker, with two cards randomly set aside as security cards and the rest of their deck in their hand. Play is simultaneous: each player chooses an active program from their hand and places it face-down, then both players reveal their choice and execute their programs. Some programs advance you to higher layers, and ending the turn at Layer 5 breaks your opponent's security, putting one of their security cards into their hand. If they don't have a security card left, you win! In addition to advancing, program cards may install themselves to create engines that persist across turns, or they may disrupt your opponent's programs and foil their plans. Decks can use programs from two of five hacking disciplines, each of which has a different mechanical focus. —description from the designer
