📖 About This Game
In this fast-paced pyramid-stacking showdown, there are no turns, just simultaneous action. Both players race across the board, moving diagonally, orthogonally, or leaping like knights, all to build the tallest tower.
Move your ever-growing tower onto a pyramid, then snatch another matching one and place it on top. But be careful... if the other player steals your next move out from under you, your game ends in an instant.
In order to play a round of Apex, you need:
20 Looney Pyramids from Looney Labs (6 trios of preferably one colour + 2 small pyramids in two different colours)
9 tiles (or pieces of cardboard, beer mats, etc.)
The game begins with a countdown or a signal (to be agreed upon beforehand). Movement works as follows:
1) Move your player pyramid/tower onto a neutral pyramid on a different tile. You can move
1 or 2 tiles orthogonally
1 or 2 tiles diagonally
in an “L” shape, like a Knight in chess
2) Take a neutral pyramid of the same size from a tile that is reachable with the same movement pattern you just used. Place it on top of your tower.
The game ends
when both players are unable to make any further moves (tallest tower wins)
if a player’s tower crashes without any involvement from the other player (intact tower wins)
if a player is involved twice in a collision that results in the other player’s tower crashing (disqualification – the other player wins automatically)
