📖 About This Game
Abuelas con hachas ("Grannies with Axes") is a fun card and strategy game inspired by nostalgic summer memories in rural towns, where grandmothers used axes for all sorts of tasks.
In this game, players compete to collect axes and chickpeas, which they trade for granny cards, aiming to score the most points by the end of the game. With simple yet strategic mechanics, the game unfolds over three rounds, each divided into turns.
Players place cards from their hand into axe rows, using chickpeas to boost their position. This determines the pick order when axes are distributed at the end of each round. Collected axes can be exchanged for granny cards, which award points and require specific combinations of axes and chickpeas.
The strategy lies in managing your resources and positioning yourself ahead in the rows to grab the best cards. The “cutting in line” mechanic adds a competitive twist, allowing players to jump ahead if they have more chickpeas in hand. Axe and granny cards have different values and requirements, encouraging careful planning each turn.
At the end of the game, points are scored based on collected cards and remaining chickpeas, rewarding both strategic play and efficient use of resources.
Abuelas con hachas blends resource management, player interaction, and a uniquely thematic design. With easy-to-learn rules and quick gameplay, it’s a light game packed with strategic depth.
